Snowboard Reviews

West Virginia resorts know a good thing when they see it, and some of the best news in the business is the phenomenal growth in snowboarding's popularity. This year the range of options available to enthusiasts is bigger than ever.
All Mountain State ski areas welcome snowboarders on their regular slopes, but the hot new trend is the specially designed terrain park shaped with boarding in mind.

  • Snowshoe offers the Mountaineer Terrain Park, part of its larger Ruckus Ridge adventure area, and bills its halfpipe as the longest in the Southeast. Elk River Snowboards, located at the base of the mountain, has the most experience and most complete selection in the resort area.
  • Winterplace also features a separate Snowboard Park, which has been expanded again for the 1999-2000 season.
  • Canaan Valley's terrain park, which opened last year, is enough to test any boarder's mettle. It offers an array of "whales, tables, spines and bumps," all on a black diamond incline.
